Orzio field guide

Set up an iPhone Action Button meal logging shortcut

How Orzio's personal Shortcut opens the camera from the iPhone Action Button and sends a meal to your Telegram log.

What the Shortcut changes

The Orzio Shortcut removes the trip through the Telegram interface when you want to capture a meal. Hold the iPhone Action Button, choose Photo or Barcode, capture the food, and the Shortcut submits it to your own Orzio account. The result still arrives in your Telegram chat, where the rest of the log and controls live.

The Shortcut also runs from Apple's Shortcuts app and on a Mac. It does not turn Orzio into an offline camera tool: the photo still needs a network connection to reach Orzio and the configured AI service.

1. Get your personal install link

Start in the Orzio Telegram bot. After your third logged meal, Orzio can offer the Shortcut; you can also open Settings in the bot and request a fresh Shortcut secret. The install link carries that personal secret so the Shortcut can send future captures to the correct account.

Treat the link and secret as credentials. Do not publish them, paste them into a shared document or install another person's copy. If you think the secret was exposed, issue a fresh one through the bot and reinstall.

2. Install and choose the Action Button

Open the personal link, select “Add your Orzio to Shortcuts,” and confirm “Add Shortcut” in Apple's sheet. Then open iPhone Settings, choose Action Button, swipe to Shortcut and select Orzio. The exact labels and available controls can vary with the iPhone and iOS version.

Run it once before depending on it. iOS asks for camera permission and permission to send the photo to orzio.thatlev.com. Review the destination, then choose the permission level you are comfortable with. Orzio's install page recommends Always Allow so later captures do not pause at the same prompt.

3. Test the complete path

Take a test photo of an ordinary meal and wait for the result in Telegram. Confirm that it reached your account, inspect whether the food identification and portion are plausible, and use Undo if the test should not count. Try Barcode separately if you plan to use it, because barcode lookup and plate recognition are different paths.

The returned calories and macros are AI estimates and can be materially wrong. The Shortcut makes capture faster; it does not make the estimate a measurement. Orzio is not medical or nutritional advice and should not be used for clinical decisions, allergies or medication calculations.
